Mary Mother of God AFC Middle School Faith Formation
The Edge Catholic Middle School Curriculum is designed to educate 6-8th grade students in the Catholic faith. The Edge program uses a variety of activities to engage learning and to inspire students to make their faith a personal commitment. Edge is composed of a six-semester rotation of topics - Scripture, Sacraments, Church, Creed, Prayer, and Social Justice. An Edge lesson includes four parts – Gather, Proclaim, Break, and Send. In the Gather portion of the night we participate in some kind of opening activity or challenge that has a connection to the main lesson of the night (the Proclaim). Then in the Break portion of the night we divide into small groups (6-10 students led by an adult) to discuss the lesson and how to incorporate it into our daily lives. We conclude together as a large group with the Send portion – a song, a prayer, and/or some type of sending forth mission.
